Special Session on Overseas Promotion of Chinese Time-Honored Brands (Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited Session) Successfully Held at the 22nd World Congress of Chinese Medicine Sub-Forum
(Sydney, Australia) On the morning of October 31st local time, Special Session on Overseas Promotion of Chinese Time-Honored Brands (Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Group Session), themed Innovative Development of Chinese Medicine Time-Honored Brands and Research on the Internationalization Strategy of Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited", was successfully held at the Sydney International Convention Centre as part of the 22nd World Congress of Chinese Medicine. The event was hosted by the Chinese Medicine Chinese Time-Honored Brands Collaborative Innovation Center and organized by China Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Holdings Limited (GPHL). Max Ma, President of Chinese Medicine Industry Council of Australia , and Li Yu, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS), delivered opening speeches. Wang Jing, Director of the International Liaison Department of WFCMS, presided over the opening ceremony.
The World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies was selected by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce in September 2024 as a construction unit for the second batch of "Time-Honored Brands Collaborative Innovation Centers". Seizing this opportunity, WFCMS has been actively integrating resources to build a professional platform dedicated to serving the international development of Chinese medicine time-honored brands. As a major science-industrial-trade integrated enterprise under key support from Guangzhou City, GPHL boasts a portfolio of 13 time-honored brands with profound heritage, including Wanglaoji, Chenliji, Jingxiutang, Pangaoshou, Caizhilin, Zhongyi Pharmaceutical, Xingqun Pharmaceutical, Qixing Pharmaceutical, Guanghua Pharmaceutical, Hejigong, Mingxing Pharmaceutical, Jianmin Chain, and Caishantang, many of which have histories exceeding a century. To fulfill its duties as a construction unit and propel Chinese medicine time-honored brands to go global, WFCMS, in its capacity as the "Chinese Medicine Time-Honored Brand Collaborative Innovation Center" collaborated with GPHL to successfully organize this sub-forum event.

The event featured invited experts who delivered thematic lectures. Diane Wilkinson, Director of the Complementary and Over-the-Counter Medicines Branch, Business Improvement and Support Section, Therapeutic Goods Administration, Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, shared insights on "TGA Regulation of Chinese Medicines," providing policy guidance for the internationalization of Chinese medicine from a regulatory science perspective. Professor Luo Songping, Director of the Gynecology and Pediatrics Center at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, gave a presentation titled "Continuous Innovation of Chinese Patent Medicines from the Research and Application of Zishen Yutai Pills" showcasing the innovative breakthroughs of classical formulations under modern scientific research.

During the salon, Academician Zhang Boli pointed out that for Chinese medicine to go global, it is essential to maintain cultural confidence, base efforts on the domestic market, leverage the advantages of digital upgrades in domestic Chinese medicine enterprises, support international expansion with solid evidence and high quality, and position Chinese medicine as representing "high-end," "cutting-edge," and "advanced" qualities. Simultaneously, it is crucial to promote healthy and sustainable development, be guided by clinical needs, clarify effective substances, mechanisms of action, control drug hazards, strictly adhere to GMP standards in production, and enhance drug quality. In his speech, Academician Zhang Boli acknowledged GPHL's continuous improvement in product quality through digital transformation. Citing GPHL brand Ganoderma Lucidum Spore Oil Soft Capsules as an example, he emphasized that this product is a typical representative of the modernization and high quality of Chinese medicine.
